Bruins face Vegas seeking 7th win in row

The Vegas Golden Knights viewed last Saturday's 5-1 victory over the Nashville Predators, which snapped a franchise-record five-game home losing streak, as the spark for a much-needed turnaround.

Then came Monday night's 3-0 loss at Colorado.

Now Vegas (32-25-4, 68 points) returns home to begin a four-game homestand on Wednesday night against one of the hottest teams in the NHL, the Boston Bruins.


Capitals waive playoff hero Smith-Pelly

The Washington Capitals have placed winger Devante Smith-Pelly on waivers ahead of next week's NHL trade deadline.

Smith-Pelly was put on waivers Wednesday after winger Dmitrij Jaskin did not practice in Toronto. Coach Todd Reirden told reporters the plan was to waive Jaskin but the team changed course and put Smith-Pelly on waivers.


Blues win franchise-record 11th straight

ST. LOUIS (AP) In the beginning of the season, the St. Louis Blues were finding ways to lose games. Now, they're managing to pull out wins.

Ryan O'Reilly scored 34 seconds into overtime and the St. Louis Blues beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Tuesday night for their franchise-record 11th straight victory.


Lightning cool Flyers for win 7th in row

PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Tampa Bay Lightning showed off their depth to continue their roll.

Tampa Bay was without top goal scorer Brayden Point and top defenseman Victor Hedman, and it rested starting goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. Oh, and the NHL points leader, Nikita Kucherov, had a rare off night.


Tatar's late goal gets Habs by Jackets

MONTREAL (AP) The Montreal Canadiens put an end to a tough losing streak Tuesday night.

Tomas Tatar scored in the third period to lift Montreal over the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2, ending a four-game skid with its first victory since Feb. 4.


Josi scores 2 in 3rd as Preds beat Stars

DALLAS (AP) Filip Forsberg answered for the Nashville Predators when they needed it in the second period.

In the final frame, Roman Josi provided the decisive blow - and one more for good measure.


Pens beat Devils to avoid season sweep

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) The Pittsburgh Penguins seem to be getting their act together for a playoff push and one clear sign of that is finally finding a way to beat the New Jersey Devils.

Bryan Rust scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the second period and the Penguins avoided the embarrassment of being swept by the lowly Devils with a 4-3 victory on Tuesday night.


With McDavid out, Oilers' skid hits 5

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) The Arizona Coyotes' confidence didn't waver after allowing a late goal.

Vinnie Hinostroza scored in regulation and got the winner in the fourth round of the shootout to lift the Arizona Coyotes to a 3-2 victory over the short-handed Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night.


Lundqvist stops 43, Rangers edge 'Canes

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Henrik Lundqvist is at his best against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The veteran goalie was at it again as he stopped 43 shots to help the New York Rangers beat the Hurricanes 2-1 on Tuesday night. It was Lundqvist's 21st win in his last 25 starts against Carolina.


Miller blanks Wild as Ducks win 4-0

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) Even after a rough few months, the Anaheim Ducks are still among the teams jockeying for playoff positioning in the Western Conference.

Ryan Miller made 31 saves for his 44th career shutout as the Ducks beat the Minnesota Wild 4-0 Tuesday night for their third win in four games. Jakob Silfverberg, Corey Perry, Ryan Kesler and Hampus Lindholm scored to help Anaheim pull three points behind the Wild for the second wild card in the Western Conference.
