NFL Recent Player News
|9/24/2020||Darren Waller, LV, TE|
|Waller was held out of practice for a second straight day Thursday due to a knee injury.
Analysis: Waller's 24 targets through the first two weeks rank second in the NFL to DeAndre Hopkins' 25, so it would be a big blow to the Raiders' offense if he can't play Sunday at New England. Fantasy owners should feel better about the situation if he's able to practice Friday.
|9/24/2020||Julio Jones, Atl, WR|
|Jones (hamstring) missed a second straight practice Thursday, calling his availability for Sunday's game against the Bears into question.
Analysis: Jones does often play through injuries, but he clearly wasn't at full strength when he managed just two catches for 24 yards against the Cowboys last week. His status does present a dilemma for fantasy owners, who should have a contingency plan available if he winds up being inactive this week.
|9/24/2020||Diontae Johnson, Pit, WR|
|Johnson (foot) returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session.
Analysis: Johnson should be fine for Sunday's game against the Texans. He's gotten his second NFL season off to a good start with 14 catches, 149 yards and a touchdown through two games.
|9/24/2020||JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pit, WR|
|Smith-Schuster (knee) missed a second straight practice Thursday.
Analysis: Smith-Schuster missed some time with a knee injury last season, so fantasy owners should have some concern about his availability for Sunday's game against Houston. The Steelers also have depth at the wide receiver position with rookie Chase Claypool having emerged as an early threat.
|9/24/2020||DJ Chark Jr., Jax, WR|
|Chark will miss Thursday's game against the Dolphins due to a chest injury.
Analysis: Chark's injury isn't considered a long-term issue, but the Jaguars are coming off a short week after playing Sunday. Jacksonville has shown some depth at the wide receiver position in the early going, as Chark, Keelan Cole, rookie Laviska Shenault and Chris Conley have all recorded at least five catches and 54 receiving yards.
|9/24/2020||Alshon Jeffery, Phi, WR|
|Jeffery practiced Thursday for the first time since undergoing surgery on his foot in December.
Analysis: Jeffery still is not expected to be ready to play when the Eagles host the Bengals on Sunday, but a Week 4 return may not be out of the question. That would be good news for an offense that's largely struggled during Philadelphia's 0-2 start.
|9/24/2020||Zack Moss, Buf, RB|
|Moss sat out a second straight practice Thursday with a toe injury.
Analysis: Devin Singletary would presumably get an increase in touches in the event Moss is inactive for Sunday's game against the Rams. The two have basically split work over the first two weeks, with Singletary receiving 26 touches and Moss 20.
|9/24/2020||Christian Kirk, Ari, WR|
|Kirk (groin) will miss a second straight practice Thursday, putting his availability for Sunday's game against the Lions into question.
Analysis: Kirk's role has diminished over the season's first two weeks due to the presence of DeAndre Hopkins on the Cardinals' roster. He's recorded just three catches totaling 57 yards through the first two games.
|9/23/2020||Josh Lambo, Jax, K|
|The Jaguars will be without Lambo for at least the next three games. The team placed Lambo on injured reserve Wednesday with a hip injury and called up rookie Brandon Wright from the practice squad. Wright will make his NFL debut Thursday night against Miami.
Analysis: Lambo has been as reliable as anyone in the league over the past four years. He has made 74 of 78 field-goal attempts since signing with the Jaguars in 2017, including 11 of 12 from beyond 50 yards. He also has made 66 of 71 extra points. Watson joined the Jaguars as an undrafted rookie from Georgia State. Jacksonville placed him on the practice squad after final cuts because of COVID-19 uncertainty, knowing he can punt and kick.
|9/23/2020||Jalen Reagor, Phi, WR|
|Reagor reportedly will miss multiple weeks due to a torn UCL in his thumb.
Analysis: The 21st overall pick in this year's draft was targeted eight times and had five catches for 96 yards during the Eagles' 0-2 start.
|9/22/2020||Phillip Dorsett II, Sea, WR|
|Dorsett (foot) has been added to injured reserve and will not be eligible to return until Week 7.
Analysis: The injury could consolidate targets further for DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
